Happy Fathers Day
Sunday 16th June is Fathers Day here in the UK, a time to celebrate & thank your Dad for being your Dad and so in tribute to Dad’s I decided to do a post with a few of my favourite Father moments captured at our Weddings. I am honoured to have 3 children and when my second Daughter was born the midwife turned to me and said’ David, another Wedding to pay for’. Being a Dad is brilliant but being a Dad to a Daughter is special as you wait all her life for that special moment, her Wedding when she marries that other man in her life, after all Dad has waited all her life for this one moment as I am waiting for mine (but I hopefully have the pleasure of doing it twice).I dont know about you reading this blog but every time I look at these images I see my kids…. playing,laughing,being angels…..asking for money,coming home late!!!!! but I wouldn’t change it for the world, if your a Dad you know what I mean :) Happy Fathers Day to all you proud Dads
Wedding Tips #..... is back
Last year this was a way of posting some fun/serious/emotional/crazy images from over the last few years photography and I have received a few emails asking to start it again, so new blog,new website and now in with Wedding Tips#. Wedding Photography at Haigh Hall: Lyndsay & Anthony
As a result of our reputation for our images and service we shoot weddings all over the UK but its always nice to shoot a local wedding & you really cant get any more local than Lyndsay & Anthony's Wedding. The church was in the centre of Wigan & the reception was at Haigh Hall (you can see Haigh Hall from our house). Jane arrived to photograph a very relaxed Lyndsay and that really was the feel of the day... relaxed not even the rain could upset these two.Haigh Hall is a fantastic venue with amazing staff and we are proud that they recommend our services, after all it is our local venue.
Wedding Photography @ The Manchester Monastery: Luke & Nicola
This was our first EVER visit to the Monastery in Gorton, Manchester and after a multi million pound refurb I hope its not our last, it really is a stunning venue and as the day was shall we say damp its perfect for wedding photography.Now the weather wasnt the only challenge, Luke is a footballer, in fact a goalkeeper, and a tall goalkeeper but Jimmy Choo to the rescue with a pair of killer heals to sort that problem.
The Monastery is stunning during the day but it really comes into its own in the evening, great lighting,great surrounds made for a fantastic evening party... even if some of the dancing was a little dubious :)
This was a great day a real laugh and also it was great to meet up with previous wedding couples.
Wedding Photography at Bolholt Country Hotel:Peter & Laura
Weather seems to be playing a big part in wedding plans & so it was as we looked to the sky for the rain.... and it didn't show, a sunny day for Pater & Lauras wedding in Bury, infact it was a gorgeous summers day.I think they both will agree they had a few nerves before the ceremony but as Laura walked up the aisle the look they gave each other was beautiful. This wedding was every bit as special as the royal wedding ...... including personalised teacups,mats,plates,T shirts & other various memorabilia.

John & Louise's Wedding at The Marriott, Worsley
Marriott Hotel in Worsley was the venue for John & Louise after their ceremony at Holy Trinity Church in Garswood Village.On the way we stopped of for photographs by the canal in Worsley in glorious sunshine. John & Louise are from Dublin and boy did we have a good craic.

A lovely card from a lovely couple.
As we enter our busiest month of the year and shooting some great couples & stunning locations its easy to forget just how good of a journey this job has given Jane & myself so it was nice to receive a lovely thank you card from a gorgeous couple whose wedding we photographed at Christmas. What made this doubly nice was the card arrived at the studio on my birthday (yes I did work on my birthday, and finished late!) & was a real pick me up……
To David & Jane,
What can we say but thank you, thank you, thank you! The Wedding Album is absolutely stunning. We could not have wished for anything more perfect, special treasured memories that we will hold close to us for the rest of our lives.

It just goes to show that with some photographers opting for the easy option of just providing the Bride & Groom with their wedding images on just a disc & actually nothing else to show for the money, just how important a wedding album actually is.I have said on many occasions a wedding album is for life, a family heirloom more than just a collection of snaps, and when done properly can re awaken the memories of the best day of your life every time you open its pages.
So Testimonials like this give Jane & Myself real pride in a job well done but they are even better when the couples relatives are so impressed that they book us to photograph their big day, so to Simon & Jo thanks & see you at Luke & Nicola’s wedding, already looking forward to it.

Wrightington Hotel & Country Club with Steve & Nicola
Even the rain couldn't put a dampener on Steve & Nicola's big day in fact the bright colours chosen for the theme made the day more like a wedding abroad. A lovely service with the church full of friends & relatives determined to make this a great day.Weather is the one thing that couples when booking their wedding cant control so I was so impressed that Nicola wasnt bothered one bit, just determined to get married & have a great party.
Wrightington Hotel is a modern, friendly hotel with bright rooms & walkways great for shooting weddings on a wet day & it was great to see Helen back again after her time off.

Mark & Lucia's Wedding at Haigh Hall Country Park
Our day started in the penthouse suite of the DeVere hotel in Bolton & ended in a sing song overlooking where Jane & I live. Some of the weddings Jane & I shoot require overnight stays,long journeys etc but Mark & Lucia’s wedding was at St Peters in Hindley & the reception at the stunning Haigh Hall, which I can see from our house, so this was a local job to say the least.
Mark & Lucia booked me as they didn’t want the standard cheesy images that you can get, but images to reflect the joy of their family & friends, some of who had made the journey from London where Mark & Lucia live, to celebrate their big day. A trip to the wonderfully scenic canal that flows thru the hall grounds was an added bonus and we shot some gorgeous images here.
One of the joys of my job is that no two weddings are the same & are always throwing up surprises and this wedding was no different, so half way through the speeches two singers, planted as guests, started what can only be described as an hilarious sing song with everybody joining in, it was great.

Graphistudio presents......me
Seems such a while since my last posting but so much has happened over the last few weeks that I really need to pinch myself to find out that this crazy journey I’m on at the moment is real.
The latest is that I have been asked by Graphistudio (the worlds largest wedding album manufacturer) to be the guest speaker on their stand at the NEC at Focus On Imaging, Europe’s largest annual imaging show & talk about how we do what we do.The show,held over four days plays host to over 30,000 vistitors from all aspects of the image industry
The two talks are titled confessions of a wedding photographer & cover everything, from how I started & what makes me click to the finished album including a few secrets along the way.
First talk starts at 12.00 the second at 3.00 on Monday 8th March on the Graphistudio stand, if your there call & say hello. Images will be posted on my facebook page…. Yes were on facebook, well isn’t everybody.

So that was 2009...Time for Iain & Lesleyann's Party
WOW what an amazing few weeks, wedding bookings coming in thick & fast (even 2012) so thank you & welcome to all our new clients Im really looking forward to this year, anyway back to last year (seems so long ago) our last wedding of 2009, our last wedding of an amazing decade saw both Jane & I again at Kilhey Court on New Years Eve, what a day for a wedding & what a night for a wedding party.
Ive posted my Fave images for you to look at, but with so many to choose from it was a tough one. A great wedding to end the decade on & also a great way to look forward to a great decade, new friends, new locations & new memories…cant wait

Winter Wonderland for Simon & Joanne
When Simon & Joanne themed their wedding on a winter wonderland i'm not sure that snow & ice was meant to be included, but a winter wonderland was what greeted us at Kilhey Court Hotel.This was our first of a busy run of weddings over christmas & what a start.A beautiful couple made for beautiful images helped by Simon & joanne braving the elements all complimented by ice sculptures & dramatic lighting for the meal.

Well Christmas is here, the studio will be closed until Monday 4th January 2010, wish I could put my feet up but have some great weddings during Christmas & New Year that I’m really looking forward to. Will post these weddings in early Jan for you to have a look at but in the meantime if you wish to contact us you can via email or on my mobile.
Looking back over the last 12 months, and what a twelve months, the highlight has got to be making the finals at the National Photography Awards in Newcastle & runner up in the UK Wedding Photographer & Parent & Child Photographer of the year.
On the awards front, 2009 saw Classic Photography win over 30 photography awards including the highest award of Professional Photographer of the Year, Wedding Photographer of the Year & wedding Album of the Year at the North West Pro Photography Awards.
The weddings & portraits we have covered this year have also been memorable, I’ve said many times I have the best job in the world & as I look back at the 2009 images I feel so lucky to have been witness to some special moments.
So 2010….
This has the potential to be our best year yet,as I look at our bookings I’m getting more & more excited, new venues, new challenges & new friends.

Craig & Lucy's Wedding at Haigh Hall
A great start to a busy December saw Jane & I at the impressive Haigh Hall for the wedding of Craig & Lucy on a crisp beautiful winters day,great lighting & a fun set of guests.If Craig was nervous he didn’t show it and was joined by an ‘on time’ Lucy for an emotional ceremony in the stunning Grand Ballroom. Haigh Hall is one of the few venues that whatever the weather your sure of great images,and made a really stunning backdrop for Craig & Lucy who where a joy to photograph. great speeches, great company & GREAT mince pies. YUM!!!
